Associate Demonstrators and Lecturers
Associates make a valuable contribution to the quality of the student experience and it is essential that they are recruited and employed using the relevant processes and checks.
This is not only a matter of ensuring that an Associate meets the recruitment and performance standards required, but also ensures that the candidate is legally allowed to work in the UK. All Associates require the full pre-employment checks (e.g. references, proof of right work in the UK, etc.) Whilst these clearance checks are undertaken as expediently as possible, they can take some time to obtain and process.
The University employs Associates to deliver teaching/ practical demonstrations. Reasons to engage an Associate may include:
- Specialist skills – to be planned within the School at the beginning of the academic year.
- Absence cover – sickness, paternity
- Absence cover – secondment/sabbatical/research
- External funding
- Work based distance learning
- Vacancy cover
- Administration/Marking/Meetings
